Fabulously Sweet

A Dash of This & A Pinch of That

Yes, another banana post. I had ‘a lot’ of bananas laying around. What to make now, I asked myself. I’ve attempted bananas cookies multiple times, only to be dissapointed with their results. So I stuck to what I know best, muffins, only these I tried to make more of a ‘cake’; light and fluffy. I found a recipe from Martha Stewart and decided it sounded perfect, but instead of the frosting she suggests, I had to use a ganache of […]

So if you can’t tell, I am in love, yes ‘LOVE’, with Ganache. It’s creamy, seductive, rich and super easy to make. This creation started out like most ‘banana’ treats do; having a few super ripe banana’s hanging around and not wanting to waste. I began making my normal bread, then decided to make muffins, since their always easier to share and more fun. As they were cooling, I pondered sprinkling them wit some powdered sugar, maybe a crumble and […]

St.Patrick’s day = booze! At least in these cupcakes it does. This is the most I have every baked with alcohol in one dessert. You have Guinness beer, Irish Whiskey and my favorite, Bailys Irish Cream Liquor. All of these combined creates the flavors of that ‘oh-so-famous’ shot, the Irish Car-Bomb. I personally have never done one, have heard of them, seen them taken and made them back in my bar-tending days. And creating these cupcakes was just as fun […]

Sometimes I wonder what life would be like if all food came on a stick? Wouldn’t it be easier to devour and definitely easier clean-up. These are just a few thoughts that came to mind when I first heard of the ‘Cake-Pop’. Now I know it’s been around for awhile, even Starbucks got in on the venture. There are even cake pop machines! But to my understanding, they aren’t the same as the original cake pop creation, which if you […]

Yes, I said ‘S’Mores’ in a cookie! So amazing! Talk about memory overload with these babies…memories of girl scout camp outs, family vacations and of those lonely nights in college where you attempt to make one over the gas-stove burner. At least these were all of my memories that flooded back with one taste of these scrumptious treats. Whoever thought to incorporate all of the great pieces of a S’more into a cookie is a genius! There were quite a […]

Where do I begin. I had been contemplating what kind of cake to make for an upcoming Birthday. I definitely wanted a cake that incorporated fruit. First I thought of a lemon cake with rasberry filling and light whipped cream frosting, a strawberry cake with fresh strawberries…then I stumbled onto the thought of, dare I say it, Coconut. That oh-so-lovely, transports-you-to-the-beach, fruit. It’s a coconut, upon coconut, upon coconut of a cake. Luckily I already had most of the ingredients […]

Happy Martin Luther King Day! And it was a ‘happy’ day for me, I got to bake all day. Yay! It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve baked anything and today I decided to go crazy. First I made home-made whipped cream. I honestly kind of had to; the heavy cream I had was about to expire in a couple days, so what better than to use it for a light and fluffy whipped cream. You can eat it plain, […]

It’s that time of year again…the holidays are upon us and when Starbucks rolls out their ‘red’ cups, that is when I begin my holiday planning! Department stores begin playing ‘Jingle bells…’, Santa’s helpers stand on corners, ringing bells and sweet yummy smells start to drift out of my kitchen. This is the time when you don’t worry about fitting into that ‘yellow-polka-dot’ bikini, when you can eat and ‘should’ eat all the scrumptious o’rdeuarvs at holiday parties, cookies and […]

For as long as I can remember, every December was a huge baking and cooking time of year, an ‘Italian’ style kinda of holiday. My grandmother’s kitchen would be with smells of home-made succo (red sauce), home-made Italian bread and all the sweet treats of course! My favorite cookies were and still are the Italian tea cookies; I can never remember their name in Italian…but they are a delicate ‘cakey’ cookie that isn’t too sweet, but then drenched in a […]

While out grocery shopping the other day, I found they had blackberries on sale for 70¢ each! So of course I bought 7 cartons. I figured I would probably eat at least case while baking with the others. Not sure what I was going to make with them, but I knew whatever I made would be scrumptious. In trying to decide what flavor of cake to make I decided on a white chocolate cupcake. My first instinct was a dark […]
